The four cores are designed to facilitate analysis of the regulatory factors in the gastrointestinal tract both in vivo and in vitro and to correlate structure with function. The administrative core oversees the operation of the DDRCC and administers the Pilot and Feasibility Program to foster participation by younger, and established, investigators in digestive diseases-related research. In addition, the NIH-sponsored General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) at Washington University provides DDRCC members with resources for conducting clinical research. Several DDRCC members who are experts in translational GI research are utilizing the GCRC.
