RESEARCH INTEREST My research interest is in the area of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). I am a co-investigator on a project using stable isotope methodology to study the metabolic changes that result in NAFLD in obese subjects. The study includes three intervention arms to determine if pharmacologic manipulation can influence the development of hepatic steatosis. My other research interest is in genetic association studies related to liver disease and study the relationship between the haplotype structure of Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein and the development of NAFLD.
